MP Antennas for transportation communications support reliable wireless connectivity, especially under non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions. MP Antenna of Elyria, Ohio (USA) designs and manufactures multi-polarized antennas for mass transit systems and railway networks, with proven products for buses, subways, freight trains, waysides, and base stations. All of MP Antenna’s products are field-tested under real-world conditions so that physical obstructions and weather conditions won’t impede performance.

MP’s solutions for transportation communications include MP-TL TransitLink™ products for onboard, outdoor, and mobile applications. These multi-polarized antennas combine effective patterning with increased network throughput speeds, an important consideration for positive traction control (PTC), live video streaming, and secure communications. In addition to bidirectional antennas, TransitLink™ solutions include products with other types of antenna patterning.

Bidirectional TransitLink™ Antennas

Three TransitLink™ antennas are bidirectional models. Each comes with or is available with dual feeds and is a low-profile, surface-mounted device that’s also RoHS compliant. With their multi-polarized 3D element design and built-in spatial diversity, these transit antennas combine enhanced connectivity and increased throughput with obstruction-penetrating features for transmitting and receiving. The horizontal radiation pattern is always bidirectional, but the vertical radiation pattern varies by product.

The first of these three bidirectional antennas, 08-ANT-1041, is a wayside antenna with a full radiation pattern in the vertical plane and a frequency range of 4.9 GHz to 6 GHz. The second product, 08-ANT-1039, supports the same frequency range but is a rail antenna with a vertical radiation pattern that’s hemispheric. The third bidirectional TransitLink™ antenna, 08-ANT-1070, also has a hemispheric radiation pattern in the vertical plane but supports a frequency range of 2.3 GHz to 2.5 GHz.

Other TransitLink™ MP Antennas

The TransitLink™ family of antennas also includes three products with an omnidirectional radiation pattern in the horizontal plane and a hemispheric radiation pattern in the vertical plane.

  • 08-ANT-0935 is a multi-band PTC antenna with a frequency range of 700 MHz to 2700 MHz. It has been tested and approved for Class 1 and commuter rail.
  • 08-ANT-0936 is a dual-band PTC antenna with a frequency range of 2 GHz to 3 GHz, and from 4.9 GHz to 6 GHz. It works seamlessly with any radio repeater system.
  • 08-ANT-1098 is a broadband antenna with a frequency range of 700 MHz – 6 GHz. Applications include land mobile radio.

A fourth product, 10200 EXT, is a high-frequency NMO (New Motorola) mount that is easy to install. Visit MP’s MP-TL TransitLink™ web page to learn more about these products, or contact us with questions.
