4.9GHz Public Safety Antennas

Multi-polarized antennas for police, fire, and EMS at federal, state, and local levels

4.9GHz antennas are used by emergency services personnel such as police and fire departments and ambulance services. Under Part 90, Section 90.523 FCC, the 4.9GHz frequency band is allocated to public safety radio for broadband wireless communications. The U.S. federal government is not eligible for 4.9GHz licenses of its own but can share state and local public safety systems.

Applications for 4.9GHz public safety antennas include wireless LANs for incident scene management, mobile data, video security, VoIP, PDA connectivity, hotspots, and T1 line replacement. Broadband permanent fixed point-to-point operations are co-primary to base mobile and temporary fixed operations. Narrowband permanent fixed point-to-point operations are secondary to base/mobile and temporary fixed operations.

With standard antenna technology, line-of-sight (LOS) paths can be disturbed by weather and physical obstructions that cause reflectivity, multi-path, absorption, and phasing. That’s why MP Antenna designs and manufactures multi-polarized antennas that reduce signal degradation and provide users with consistent voice and data communications in any situation.

4.9GHz MIMO Antennas

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas combine two or more antennas in a single physical package to increase data throughput and range. There are two main MIMO formats: spatial diversity and spatial multiplexing. By using multiple transmission and receiving antennas, MIMO multiplies the capacity of radio frequency (RF) communications. These 4.9GHz public safety antennas are available in different form factors and may be designed for indoor or outdoor use.

Surface Mount Antennas

Surface mount antennas for 4.9GHz frequencies are usually installed on a metal surface or ground plane such as vehicle roof, trunk, dashboard, or bulkhead.

Base Station and Mobile Antennas

Base station antennas transmit to and receive signals from multiple mobile antennas. Typically, base station antennas are installed on towers, rooftops, or other elevated locations. They can cover a single frequency band or multiple frequency bands.

Indoor and Outdoor Antennas

Indoor network antennas are used in hospitals, universities, stores, offices, call centers, and other settings that depend upon indoor wireless communications. Because they’re multi-polarized, MP Antenna’s products can overcome obstructions such as walls and floors for better building coverage. Out
